World tennis champion Rafael Nadal arrives in Bangkok to play at the ATP tournament this month. Organizers have been trying to get the athletic superstar to travel to the country for several years now. World number one tennis player Rafael Nadal arrived in Bangkok on Tuesday ahead of his first match of the ATP tournament at the end of this month. [Khun Suwat Lipatapanlop, Thailand Lawn Tennis Assoc.]: "Thai fans have been waiting for Nadal for over two years. This is the third year that we invited him, and he finally comes and brings his great honor as world top tennis player. His arrival will motivate the development of tennis in Thailand, and he also brings his happiness to Thailand. And more importantly Nadal brings a good tourism image to the country." Joining Nadal at the PTT Thailand Open 2010 will be former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro, Olympic champion Fernando Gonzalez of Chile and Ernests Gublis, along with other renowned players. The tournament starts on September 25, but the official opening will be on September 30, during which Nadal will play the first match.
